Hepatitis B Surface Antibody*

For the qualitative and quantitative determination of total antibodies to Hepatitis B surface antigen in human serum. The assay results may be used as an aid in the determination of susceptibility to Hepatitis B virus infection in individuals prior to or following Hepatitis B virus vaccination or where vaccination status is unknown. Assay results may be used with other Hepatitis B virus serological markers for the laboratory diagnosis of Hepatitis B virus disease associated with Hepatitis B virus infection. A reactive assay result will allow a differential diagnosis in individuals displaying signs and symptoms of hepatitis in whom etiology is unknown.

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Send specimen in original tube.

2. If pre-processing before sending to the Lab: Allow to clot 30 minutes, (but not longer than 2 hours), centrifuge, refrigerate and return to the Lab.
