Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood  
Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel

Specimen Volume: 2 mL blood (1mL serum)

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.75 mL serum.

Collection Instructions:

If pre-processing before sending to the laboratory:

Allow to clot 30 minutes, centrifuge, refrigerate and return to lab within 8 hours.

 

Reference Values

Negative - Absence of detectable virus IgG antibodies. A negative result generally indicates that the patient is susceptible.

Equivocal - Recommend collecting a second sample for testing in no less than one to two weeks. 

Positive - Presence of detectable virus IgG antibodies.
