Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, clean catch
Container/Tube: Sterile container

Specimen Volume: 50 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 10 mL

Specimen Stability: 8 hours 2-8° C, 1 hour room temp
Collection Instructions:

1. No preservative.

2. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Refrigerated

Urinalysis must be performed within 8 hours. Culture must be set up within 24 hours.

Additional Information

Microscopic is indicated when there are positives in any combination.  Proteien, Leukocyte Esterase, Blood or Nitrites.
Culture is indicated if Squamous Epithelial Cells are less than 3+, Bacteria are present and WBC's are present greater than or equal to 4-10.
