Methodology

Colorimetric Reflectance/Microscopic Evaluation

Includes pH, specific gravity, leukocyte esterase, protein, glucose, nitrite, ketones, urobilinogen, bilirubin, and blood.

Microscopic evaluation is performed if leukocytes, nitrites, and blood, or protein is positive.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, random collection
Container/Tube: Sterile container

Specimen Volume: 10 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 5 mL
Collection Instructions:

1. No preservative.

2. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

Refrigerated

Specimen must be analyzed within 8 hours.

pH: 5.0-8.0

Specific gravity: 1.005-1.030

Leukocyte esterase: negative

Protein: negative

Glucose: negative

Critical values (automatic call-back)

Urobilinogen: 0.2-1.0 mg/dL

Bilirubin: negative

Blood: negative
