Specimen Requirements
Dacron fiber swab or cytobrush of anal-rectal lesions.
Specimen Collection and Transport
- Label a ThinPrep® vial with with two (2) unique patient identifiers.
- Insert the Dacron swab or a cytobrush into the anal canal and rotate it 1/2 a turn.
- Vigorously rinse the swab or brush in the ThinPrep® vial to release the collect material.
- Discard the swab or brush.
- Tighten the cap of the ThinPrep® vial so that the black torque line on the cap passes the black torque line on the vial.
- Submit the vial and completed requisition to the cytology lab for processing.
Stable at Room Temperature.
