Hepatitis C Antibody with reflex to HCV RNA Detect/Quant/Reflex to Genotype*

For the qualitative determination of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to Hepatitis C virus in human serum. The assay may be used in conjunction with other serological and clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of individuals with symptoms of hepatitis and in indi-viduals at risk for Hepatitis C infection.

The performance of the assay has not been established for populations of immunocompromised, immunosuppressed, infants, children, or adolescent patients.

Reactive and equivocal results will be confirmed by HCV RNA Quant, Reflex to HCV Gntype, S-Mayo.

IF the hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA levels greater than or equal to 500 IU/mL will be tested for HCV genotype at an additional charge.

 

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood
Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel

Specimen Volume: Full tube

Specimen Minimum Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Send specimen in original tube.

2. If pre-processing before sending to the Lab: Allow to clot 30 minutes, (but not longer than 2 hours), centrifuge, refrigerate and return to the Lab.
