Specimen Requirements

• Specimen Type: Rectal and vaginal
• Container/Tube (Preferred): Swab
• Specimen Volume: Entire specimen
• Collection Instructions:

1. Use 1 or 2 culture swabs
2. Insert swab(s) in vagina, and sample vaginal introitus.
3. Insert same swab(s) approximately 1 inch beyond anal sphincter.  Gently rotate swab(s) to sample anal crypts. Feces should be evident on swab.
