Must indicate Brush location, i.e. RUL or LLL.

PCP evaluation may be added to this request by entering on the requisition or in the Cerner Order Comment Tab.

Specimen Requirements

Brush from Bronchoscopy 

Specimen Collection and Transport

  1. Label at least two (2) glass microscope slides with two (2) unique patient identifiers.
  2. Collect bronchial brush specimen
  3. Starting at frosted end of a glass microscope slide, place brush on slide and roll brush away from frosted end of slide, streaking material. Immediately fix the slide with spray fixative or immerse in 95% ethanol.
  4. Repeat step 3 for second slide but do NOT fix this slide.  Allow it to air dry.
  5. Remove brush head and place into a 50mL conical tube containing 30 mL of CytoLyt® fluid.

Stable at Room Temperature. 

If collected after hours, please refrigerate brush head in CytoLyt® fluid
