A cell block is ordered as a reflex to all Body Cavity Fluids submitted for cytologic examination. 

Must indicate fluid location, i.e. RIGHT or LEFT pleural effusion/fluid

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Minimum Volume: 5mL

Fluid from body cavities, ie. Pleural fluid, peritoneal fluid, synovial fluid

Monday to Friday; 7:00AM to 4:30PM

Collect specimen in sterile container. 

Stable at Room Temperature.
