Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Cervix, endocervix
Collection Container/Tube: Swab
Submission Container/Tube: Jembec culture media plate
Specimen Volume: Entire specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Remove cervical mucous and/or secretions with swab, and discard.
2. Firmly sample the endocervical canal with a newly obtained sterile swab
7. Inoculate directly to Jembec culture media plate or send immediately to laboratory.

Aspirate joint fluid using needle and syringe

1. Collect specimen using a premoistened, culture swab.

1. Carefully insert culture swab approximately 1 inch beyond anal sphincter.
2. Gently rotate swab to sample anal crypts. Feces should be evident on swab.

1. Patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection.
2.Insert a urethrogenital swab 1-2 inches into the urethral lumen, rotate the swab, and leave it in place for at least 2 s. to facilitate absorption.
3. Inoculate directly to Jembec culture media plate or submit immediately to laboratory
