Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Light-blue top (citrate)

Specimen Volume: Tube must be filled to the acceptability line
Specimen Minimum Volume: 2.7 mL

Specimen Stability: 4 hours ambient

Collection Instructions:

1. Tube must be full. (Do not underfill or overfill tube.)

2. Send specimen Room Temperature in original tube. Stable 4 hours

Specimen Transport Temperature

Room Temperature 4 hours.

*For longer transport times, double spun, platelet poor plasma must be submitted refrigerated or frozen. Contact lab for procedure.

NOT to be used in the monitoring of heparin therapy.
