Important Note

The aPTT test is used for baseline PTT studies and routine coagulation screening.

NOT to be used in the monitoring of heparin therapy.

Whole blood specimen is stable at room temperature 4 hours. For longer transport times, double spun, platelet poor plasma must be submitted refrigerated or frozen. Contact lab for procedure.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Light-blue top (citrate)

Specimen Volume: Full tube
Specimen Minimum Volume: 2.7 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Tube must be full. (Do not underfill or overfill tube.)

2. Send specimen Room Temperature in original tube. Stable 4 hours

Specimen Transport Temperature

Room Temperature 4 hours. For longer transport times, double spun, platelet poor plasma must be submitted refrigerated or frozen. Contact lab for procedure.
