Hold Clot*

Important Note

*IMPORTANT NOTE:  This test is orderable in Cener as a Hold Clot.  

This sample serves as a 72 hours place holder for future transfusion testing.  If transfusion testing is desired after collection, new orders for testing must be placed.  There is no need to for a new collection.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood

Container/Tube: Pink K2 EDTA

Specimen Volume: 6 mL (Full tube)

Specimen Minimum Volume: 5 mL

Specimen Stability: 72 Hours

Collection Instructions:

1. This test can only be collected by specially trained members of RRMC.  For more information, contact the Blood Bank at 802-747-1809.
2. Hold clots must be banded using the Blood Bank ID banding system.  The patient should be instructed to not remove the bracelet for 3 days after collection.
