NT-proBNP*

Important Note

*This test is orderable in Cerner as NT-proBNP

BNP (B-type Natriuretic Peptide) testing has been replaced with NT-proBNP. While both BNP and NT-proBNP are useful markers for the diagnosis and exclusion of congestive heart failure, the NT-proBNP shows more stability both in vitro and in vivo. This allows for more reliable testing along with standardization across testing platforms.
